Two million Afar people carve out a life as camel herding nomads in one of the hottest, harshest places on earth, the lowland desert of northeast Ethiopia. In 1984 the great famine forced them to accept help from outsiders. They learned that people all over the world cared.

Afars are beginning to come to Christ. SIM personnel have become like family in one clan and now 2 elders have become believers, sharing Jesus with others.

But severe drought has struck again. We cannot stand idly by and watch these people suffer and die. Please give and help release living water in the desert.

Suggested gift amounts
  • $10 feeds one child for 2 weeks
  • $25 provides 7 litres of cooking oil
  • $50 provides 30 kg of wheat
