Other HIV/AIDS projects

Niger was recently rated the worst place to live in the world by the United Nations Development Index. Extreme poverty and the lack of social services are a constant reality.

SIM in partnership with Galmi SIM Hospital and the Government of Canada are providing HIV testing, treatment and care to communities at risk.

Approximately 1000 people are tested monthly and hundreds are on the anti-retroviral treatment for HIV supplied by Galmi Hospital.

Increased resources are essential to expanding awareness raising and care programming in the communities, reducing stigma and increasing health support to the most vulnerable.

Suggested gift amounts
  • $10 provides home based care to an HIV+ person for one month
  • $25 provides refresher training for five peer educators in a school on HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention (needed for 15 schools)
  • $50 purchases stationary and uniforms for two orphans or vulnerable children for a year
