Other Food Security projects

Niger is one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. Rural farmers struggle to survive due to poor nutrition and health, diminishing food security, low soil fertility and degraded land, leading to chronic poverty.

This project works with the poor rural communities to transform physical, social and spiritual lives.
  • Poor farmers are trained in sustainable agroforestry farming to improve food security, restore land and increase income
  • A resource centre researches and demonstrates new and improved seed crops for distribution to farmers
  • A health training program emphasizes nutrition, prevention of disease, hygiene and empowers traditional birth attendants
Suggested gift amounts
  • $15 buys airtime for 2 radio broadcasts promoting sustainable agricultural techniques that reach 1000's of households
  • $200 enables acacia food demonstrations in a village that will help improve food nutrition and security to 100 - 200 households
  • $400 enables a training course for 50 farmers in sustainable agriculture
