SIM Canada - CIDA Partnership

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)

SIM Canada -
CIDA Programs working with HIV/AIDS

Give to a cause
You can
give to the HIV/AIDS cause and SIM will distribute your gift where most needed among the three CIDA projects or divide it equally among these projects.

Multiply your gift
with this CIDA agreement...

every $1 you give
becomes $4!

75% of the funds for the SIM/CIDA progam in Ethiopia and Niger come from CIDA.

The other 25% comes from donations to SIM. So for every $100 that goes to the project, $75 comes from CIDA and $25 comes from donors like you.

There have been great gains in the battle against HIV/AIDS. SIM's work has been a critical part of this coordinated effort to reduce new HIV infections and provide dignity and care to those who are infected.

These great gains have slowed the infection rates of many countries, and increased the lifespan of those who previously had no hope.

The battle is, however, far from over. Communities throughout Africa continue to lack the necessary support they need, and are becoming the new "HIV hot spots" which have ravaged populations and could potentially reverse many of the gains made against the pandemic.

SIM Canada's vision is to use the lessons learned in it's HIV/AIDS activities throughout the world, to make a tremendous impact in "HIV hot spots", reducing new infection rates, and strengthening local community care which provides infected people and their families dignity, health, and hope.

From this vision SIM Canada has spearheaded a five-year program in Ethiopia and Niger targeting the "HIV hot spots", to close the gaps which exist in HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, care and education.

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) has caught SIM Canada's vision and approved a landmark five-year agreement to support the quality work of SIM Canada?s partners in these targeted communities.

Through this partnership the Canadian Government will contribute close to $2,400,000 in matching funds to support the program. Canadians now have the opportunity to also catch SIM's vision and raise approximately $800,000, with every dollar being matched with three by CIDA.
