The purpose of this partner project is for 18 new nurses, lab techs and pharmacists to be trained so that the three rural centres of the UIEA Church Medical Outreach will have more qualified staff and to provide current health workers 4 refresher courses and 6 supervisory visits per year.
Angola faces major challenges, with lack of qualified doctors and nurses, medical equipment and adequate maintenance of health equipment. There is a substantial disparity between urban and rural communities for good access to health care. In rural areas simple health problems can lead to considerable morbidity and fatalities due to the lack of qualified health personnel. Up-to-date equipment is lacking, or unused, for lack of personnel.
This project aims to provide training and supervision of health workers in the rural health units of the UIEA Church so that they will be well trained and up-to-date in good practices of primary health care.
