Life is not easy for the majority of widows in West Africa. They are often neglected by their families and face significant discrimination and isolation. The objective of this project is to care for up to sixty widows in Parakou by providing them with spiritual, social and material support. At its core, this will involve facilitating regular meetings where widows will be taught from the Bible, encouraged to pray and trained in practical matters such as managing finances. These women will have a forum to voice any concerns and access to mentors or advocates such as older widows, pastors or community leaders. A small micro-credit scheme helps approximately 35 needy widows set up income generating activities.
