Rwankole Hospital Fistula Project

Project Number: 509009
Vaginal fistulas are a significant health concern in the developing world, where obstetric care continues to be a challenge, and where girls are married far too early.

Vaginal fistulas result in urine continuously leaking from the vagina. This profoundly affects a woman’s physical, emotional and social well-being.
According to the United Nations, there are an estimated 40,000 cases of obstetrical fistulas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Rwankole Hospital has already assisted more than 1,450 women with fistulas since 2006, and is the first hospital in the region to offer this specialized surgery.

The annual goal of this project is to provide surgeries for 100 women suffering from vaginal fistulas and provide compassion, and exposure to the gospel.
