Samaru Widows’ School Development
The main purpose of the project is to improve the physical facilities within the Widows’ School. Much has been accomplished in recent years, but there is much that still needs to be done.
A house for a staff family is currently under construction. There is also a need for 2 small houses for junior staff. The housing for 3 staff units is in very poor condition. More kitchen shelters for the student compound are needed. Some of the older ones have fallen down and others soon will. An additional 5 or 6 cooking areas are also needed.
A couple years ago, 2 bore holes improved the quality and quantity of water available on the compound. However, the wells are not producing sufficient volume for the demand. The student population has increased in the last couple of years and also many people from town come for water. Another bore hole would help increase the water supply. Electrification of the entire school compound is something needed.
