Use your professional skills and passion to the good work of God’s Kingdom.
Sports Friends works in 19 countries and ministers to almost 300,000 young people through the powerful platform of sport. Our mission is to equip churches and church planters to use sport to make disciples of Jesus Christ among young people, their families and their communities. We believe sports ministry is a powerful tool for the church to build relationships and share the gospel hope. We provide training for church partners, with those attending becoming coaches in their communities. These 'life coaches' are mentoring and loving young people, walking with them through life's challenges, and helping them become mature disciples. We're always looking for more awesome people to join our diverse, global team! We need people who have a passion for sports and young people, but it's not essential for many of the roles within Sports Friends. We are also looking for workers who have gifts in administration, communications, discipleship, leadership, pastoral care, and many more as we seek to equip the church to make disciples. Your passions, gifts, and skills can all be used for God's glory! Whether you're ready to engage in long-term ministry or want to test the water with an internship or short-term ministry trip, we can help connect you to God's work all over the world.
That SIM would be a innovative and strategic organisation valuing planning, evaluation, research and missiological reflection in the pursuit of effective ministries and supportive structures appropriate to their contexts.
We do this through raising awareness, providing training, and supporting SIM workers and teams as they respond to human trafficking occurring in their communities. Our vision is to have For Freedom workers in every region and on every team. Covid-19 is leaving millions more people around the world vulnerable to human trafficking; it is essential all our workers and teams know how to respond and keep those at risk safe. One main area of focus is an integrative prevention approach, where ministries include appropriate prevention strategies within their existing programming and activities. For example, theological education could include the For Freedom Basics online course in a doctrine of man module; health workers could be trained to recognise signs of trafficking and exploitation; those working with children and vulnerable young people could teach awareness and knowledge of how to keep safe from traffickers as part of their programme; trauma healing teams understand the importance of their ministry in building resilience and protection from trafficking. Every ministry and every worker can include simple prevention strategies into their ministry work. For Freedom also supports SIM workers and teams feeling led by the Lord into specific anti-trafficking ministry.
Germany is the number one European country for Refugee and migrants, particularly in the Catholic city of Munich in the south, where about one quarter of the inhabitants (1.5 million people) are migrants. Arab people also come for hospital treatment or recreation. More workers are urgently needed! We want to see new international churches for the migrants in Munich and to support the already-running ministries. We have a lot of socially-oriented work, including homework help for schoolchildren, music lessons, creative art courses, food care for the poor, youth and children's work, and ministry to adults. All of these point people to Jesus. Evangelists are very much needed in Munich, as are people who can organise and coordinate teams of up to 30 volunteers.
The Ruhr area, located in the federal state of Northrhine-Westfalia, is the largest metropolitan area in Germany. It has a population of 5.1 million and is spread over 53 cities. It has the highest migrant density in Germany, from every nation. In our conservative evangelical international church plant we need faithful preachers, servants and house meeting group leaders who can give discipleship to new believers. We also have outreach groups, who run book tables, and need evangelists to lead new people from all nations to faith in Jesus.
