The Mukinge Sustainable Surgery Project is a five-year initiative (2025–2030) focused on strengthening Mukinge Mission Hospital’s surgical services and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. Currently, surgery—one of the hospital’s most vital services—operates at a financial loss, limiting the hospital’s ability to grow.
This project provides transitional funding for theater operations—covering supplies, anesthesia staff, and essential equipment—while introducing a graduated fee schedule that will move the hospital toward financial independence. Over time, Mukinge will progress from donor-supported operations to charging sustainable fees that cover the true cost of surgery.
By stabilizing and growing its surgical capacity, Mukinge Hospital will be equipped to meet the urgent medical needs of today while preparing for the growing demands of the future.
