Scott has been a Jesus follower since 2000, and a fan and student of hip hop culture since about 1993. Hip Hop culture is an art of participation, with a rich 50-year history. Participants Rap, DJ, Breakdance, and/or do Graffiti Art, and gather to practice and share their skills. They come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds and religious experiences. Their understanding of Jesus or faith tends to fall into three categories: 1) They have very little or no exposure to who Jesus is and the good news of His saving grace, 2) They know the name, but have complete misconceptions about who He is, or, 3) They are Christian but lonely because they don't fit into regular North American church culture. Scott is following God's call to minister and build relationships within the hip hop culture in Calgary where he lives, and across Canada (and beyond) using online tools. Scott is involved in the Calgary hip hop community by connecting on a cultural level through his DJing (that he has done for 30+ years), actively sharing the Gospel and building culturally relevant safe spaces for discipleship (such as Bible Studies and Christian hip hop events).

"Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God." 1 Corinthians 1:22-24 (NIV)
