By Prayer is SIM’s motto because it is truly by prayer that we praise God, seek His direction, request resources, and call upon the Holy Spirit to empower our ministries. By Prayer is a call to action emphasizing important work to be done. We must intercede for those living outside of a saving relationship with Jesus, many of whom have never heard His name. Finally, By Prayer is a celebration! We glorify the Lord not only for all that He has accomplished, but for who He is and all that He is yet to do.
We serve an awesome God and He has given us some incredibly powerful resources to use in his service. The Bible and prayer are the primary mighty assets all believers in Jesus Christ have at their disposal. The Scripture Prayer Guide is a prayer tool that seeks to combine the living and active Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) with powerful prayer (James 5:13), with the result that the user participates with God in unleashing His fruit-bearing Word throughout the world (Isaiah 55:11; 2 Thessalonians 3:1). By praying for situations and for people using the Scriptures as the foundation, we can have an active role in fulfilling God’s will on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). There is no greater privilege for the believer in Jesus Christ.
How Is It Organized?
The Scripture Prayer Guide is comprised of individual sheets organized under five categories: Worship, Spiritual Life, Books and Themes, Intercession, and Missions. It is topical in nature. Individual sheets can be used for a period of time and then exchanged for another. Each sheet is printed front and back on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper turned landscape. In this format it is intended to be folded in two, forming a conveniently sized booklet that can be slipped inside a Bible and used as a bookmark.
How can it be used?
The Scripture Prayer Guide can be used in small or large group settings, or by an individual:
