Position Overview:

We are searching for individuals that are self-motivated and well developed in their Christian faith and walk. You will be tasked with representing SIM Canada to those investigating their Great Commission call, coaching them in their search and assisting them in moving through next steps in the decision-making process to Serve In Mission with SIM Canada.

You will be assigned to renew, build and steward SIM’s relationships, generate an environment of inquirers for/around our mission-based organization and grow/amplify our awareness.

This position reports directly to the Director of Mobilization.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Mobilizers work on a team to meet goals, recruit target audiences, cast a vision for missions for large and small audiences, and create mobilization opportunities/networks
  • Develop and foster networking relationships (schools, students, graduates, church leaders/members, various organizations, SIM alums, appointees, etc.) within an assigned region that engages people with SIM
  • 1-3 years of experience in mobilizing or similar networking background with good communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Willing to travel outside of your assigned region as needed
  • Active membership in a local church, to include accountability groups and/or a discipleship relationship
  • Create, schedule and conduct presentations, as well as generate leads through events to further develop SIM’s mobilization network
  • Systematically follow up with new contacts by implementing a good process management/recruitment tracking system.
  • Maintain acceptable performance in key areas, including contacts per week/month, presentations, etc.
  • Talk with potential inquirers to ensure that they submit the documentation necessary for a follow-up by a SIM team member according to established deadlines
  • Develop and maintain a SIM presence in assigned area
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Environment:

  • This role is a full-time position. As a faith-based mission organization some self support may be required.

  • You enjoy the freedom of working within a flexible schedule, as you may be required to work at different hours in the mornings, late evenings, and some weekends. Flexibility to travel at times within Canada
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract

Position Overview:

We’re searching for a Selection and Placement Coordinator (S&PC) who will work with Canadian applicants towards cross cultural engagement (either locally or overseas). You will be primarily responsible for walking with prospective ministry workers from the initial inquiry stage through to their field placement.  The S&PC’s position is highly relational in nature; therefore, we are seeking someone who is developed in their Christian faith and walk.

You will be tasked with discerning along with inquirers and assisting them in investigating their Great Commission call for them to use their gifts and skills to serve God with SIM in missions here in Canada or across borders at this time.

This position reports directly to the Personnel Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the application process for prospective ministry workers (short-term, mid-term and long-term)
  • Search through our Ministry Opportunities database and communicate with the field offices to identify suitable placements for candidates and to coordinate placement details
  • Maintain the electronic Personnel Files
  • Update statuses and details in the various databases as they move through the process
  • Supporting the Personnel Director in various duties
  • Put into practice procedures from the “SIM International Personnel Principles & Practices” Handbook
  • As it relates specifically to short term and mid-term ministry workers (aka, “associates”):
  • Coordinate the preparations for service
  • Create trip budgets
  • Monitor their raised funds and their financial accounts with SIM
  • Facilitate one-day office visits/orientations
  • Facilitate and coordinate the re-entry and debrief of missionaries
  • As it relates to long-term ministry workers (aka. “Members”):
    • Assist the Personnel Director with pre-field Orientation

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and work experience in the church/missions arena
  • Spiritual and personal maturity, plus commitment to learn and grow
  • A passion for long-term Christian ministry
  • Sensitivity and discernment in dealing with people
  • Administrative ability to keep the procedures moving
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and able to multitask with great follow-up skills
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities, administrative coordination and logistics
  • Critical thinking skills and sound judgment
  • A sense of teamwork
  • Willingness to help with general administrative tasks around the office
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite

Position Overview:

SIM is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Donor Relations/Data Processor.  The primary purposes of this role are to process donations to SIM Canada and contribute to the functioning of the Finance Department.   You will be responsible for answering questions from our supporters, processing incoming donations, generating charitable tax receipts and thank you letters.

This position reports directly to the CFO.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Opening, sorting and processing daily mail
  • Inputting daily donations (via phone, mail, website) into various software
  • Cross checking various software & websites to ensure accuracy of information
  • Producing deposit tickets, pre-authorized batches (e.g. EFT)
  • Maintaining donor databases with new information, projects, appeals, etc.
  • Preparing receipting and file documents, including sending replacement receipts
  • Donors, missionaries and other finance personnel, staff member
  • Generating reports of memorial gifts to donors,
  • Frequent communication via phone, email, & in person with donors, missionaries, staff, & other SIM offices
  • Regularly praying for donors, staff, leadership team, volunteers, missionaries, and various ministries

Qualifications:

  • You will possess a good combination of relevant work experience and education
  • Experience working in the finance department of a charitable/non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated thoroughness, accuracy, and attention to detail along with commitment to follow-though and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential donor information
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and or familiarity with Canada Helps platform
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Word and Excel required;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Good time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and effectively in a busy team environment
  • Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as appropriate

Position Overview:

The primary purpose of this role is to perform generalized maintenance related to our office building, grounds and equipment.

This position reports directly to the Director of Projects and Facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, monitors, and carries out preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for our building, equipment and grounds. Ensures building and equipment meet all safety, security and fire regulations and policies. Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to supervisor
  • Performs minor carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing maintenance and repairs such as repairing furniture, constructing shelves, installing switches, replacing plugs and other basic appliance repairs, applying paint and other finishes, repairing drywall, disassembling and reassembling equipment, replacing sinks and toilets and applying finishing material such as linoleum
  • Monitors work performed by contractors, prepares estimates of labour and material costs, contacts external contractors and trades people to obtain quotes and arranges for major repairs and maintenance work
  • Take garbage and recyclable materials curb each week for removal by the City
  • Cleans external areas such as entrance ways, sidewalks and parking lots using various tools, rakes, shovels and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow and other debris. Performs minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning and watering
  • Arranges furniture for special events held at the building
  • Prepare an annual budget for the facilities and submit it to the Supervisor for inclusion in the amalgamated budget process
  • Ensure that the building is secure, and the alarm is set during the periods that the office is closed
  • Maintain a list of who has access to various parts of the building and the keys for each staff member
  • Be on call as the primary contact in case of emergency associated with the building

Other Duties:

  • Liaise with our building tenants (office tenants) on maintenance needs
  • Provide Maintenance oversite/recommendations for 2 additional properties as required
  • Daily mail franking and delivery to the Canada Post
  • Monitoring postal account [i.e. ensuring sufficient postal funds and oversight of tenant’s postal accounts as required]
  • Sorting/sending magazines [3 per year] and other promotional materials as required
  • Airport pick up/drop-offs of members when required
  • Appointment drop-offs/pick-ups of members as required

Qualifications:

  • You will possess a strong combination of education and work experience
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • General knowledge of building maintenance practices
  • Knowledge of computer software including MS Office and related program
  • Ability to prioritize multiple demands and effectively manage time
  • Present a professional attitude and appearance

Position Overview:

We’re searching for a motivated Church Engagement & Partnership Representative who is developed in their Christian faith and can nurture those called to missions. You will be tasked with multi-level relationship building and partnering with churches and ministries by creating networks that move missional initiatives forward. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for interacting with churches to inspire financial investment in missional initiatives
  • Interact with pastors and other key decision-makers by sharing specific proposals on projects to support as well as service opportunities for church members
  • Organize and lead vision and/or short-term mission trips
  • Inspire donors and churches towards the formation of a prayer partnership
  • Represent SIM Canada by contributing to various events and participating as a speaker at these events, where required
  • Communicate to donor churches/partner organizations on the use of funds through stewardship reports
  • Renegotiate further investment in the supported projects and introduce other projects in need of support
  • Connect with returning missionaries and our national partners in the field and let them know that we would like to come alongside them when visiting their home churches to bring awareness to SIM and to build a deeper church partnership

Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and work experience in the church/missions arena
  • Fundraising Management, Communications, Marketing or related program or work experience
  • Experience with church relations, serving on a church leadership team
  • Knowledge of donor relations, fund development in a non-profit organization
  • Experience of working with church/ministry leadership
  • Knowledge of cross-denominational environments and cultural sensitivities
  • Experience of managing individuals/volunteers/teams with the ability to motivate, inspire and develop people’s skills
  • Strong personal workflow, time management and prioritisation skills
