Donna serves at ECWA Widows' Training School in Samaru-Kataf, Kaduna State, a SIM project that she manages, and where she also teaches. The school began in 1997 and its purpose is to teach the students the Word of God and practical skills so that they may help and support their families. Among other things, they teach cake-making and decorating. Many of the women, who are married, divorced, widowed, or single arrive at the school with little or no educational background. Some have never been in school. Those who have managed to be in school still cannot read or even write their name. Donna spends many hours of her day in the classroom with these women to teach reading and writing in both English and Hausa. For some it takes a long time. But Donna finds great joy to see them catching on to something they have wanted to do for years. She also teaches Bible class, an essential part of their spiritual life and growth.
