Irhya, born in Niger to a Muslim family amidst difficult circumstances, encountered Christianity through his brother's work with a missionary. Captivated by Jesus teachings, especially the Sermon on the Mount, and God's role as Father in his life. Irhya decided to follow Jesus and was baptized in 2003. Marianne, raised in Switzerland, recognized Christ as her Saviour during her nursing studies and later pursued Bible training in Italy, linguistic studies in Germany, and Hebrew in Jerusalem. Their paths crossed at church in Niger, where they were both involved in Old Testament translation with SIM. Married in 2004, they have three children: Lara, Safiya, and Jonas. Today, they live in Canada, where their mission continues. Irhya holds a master's degree in theological studies from Regent College. He oversees humanitarian projects in Niger while also ministering to Indigenous communities in Lytton, British Columbia through Love First Nations Ministry. Marianne is involved in the local church and serving as an Orton Gillingham Practitioner Teacher to help children with learning challenges such as dyslexia.
