Ethiopia ACT is a gospel-centered, multi-cultural team actively loving the 'least of these' of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We work to reconcile people to God through Jesus Christ, and to reconcile them to themselves, others and creation, all resulting in the planting, growing and maturing of churches that in turn transform lives and communities through faithful witnesses to the gospel. We plant churches in Addis Ababa, with a special emphasis on low-income communities on the outskirts of the city. To date one church is planted in the Suki community, two are in process, and others are expected to emerge from home fellowships. The ministry is closely tied to a larger community health ministry, Ethiopia ACT, operated under a separate NGO registration, that serves poor urban families with chronic health issues. In addition to church planting, we also collaborate with other church denominations and networks to see churches empowered and individuals mentored for spiritual growth and missions outreach, especially the training of church pastors and leaders for effective leadership, ministry, and gospel-centred life.
Our Somali Ministry provides global access to written, audio and visual resources explaining the gospel in the Somali language. Enhancing gospel communication by developing evangelistic and discipling relationships with visitors corresponding by email and social media. Linking correspondents with Christians in their vicinity who could provide additional evangelism or discipling in face-to-face relationships.
SIM Ethiopia's theological education ministry focuses on equipping emerging church leaders with a biblical worldview of the mission of God in Christ from creation to new creation, and training to rightly handle and minister the Scriptures, that they might lead this Church into growth that results in passionate participation in the mission of God.
We look to work with churches in Ethiopia at the national and local level, Instilling in them a passion and understanding of global missions. If you feel called to inspire the next generation of Ethiopian missionaries then we would love to hear from you.
OneLife Africa (OLA) focuses on the next generation of young leaders in high school, colleges and universities. OLA offers educational support to bright and needy students, discipling them through life decisions and equipping them to serve Christ in their spheres of influence. The OLA youth campus based in Kabarak, Nakuru County, runs holiday camps for high school, college and university students as well as a three to six=month residential gap-year programme for pre-university students. The six evangelistic camps per year occur over the Kenya high school holiday breaks. Camps are open to sponsored OLA students, young people from partnering churches and communities. The LEAD gap year programme draws young leaders who have demonstrated leadership potential and want to grow in their faith in Christ. An estimated 700 students will come through the OLA youth campus each year.
In Ethiopia, traumatic experiences and hurt are prevalent. Even those not impacted directly by such experiences may be secondarily impacted, impacting their hearts and minds. The church and para-church organizations have an opportunity to share the healing that is offered in scripture that aligns with mental health best practices. Using the Trauma Healing model we will work with churches, parachurch ministries and organizations to help them begin their own Trauma Healing Ministries. Trauma Healing Ministries can multiply and create a community-based system of support for pervasive trauma. This tool does not require professional counsellors, but rather equips lay people to address trauma effectively in their spheres of influence.
